Beccles Rotary Club, in association with Life-Cycles of Lowestoft and Velo Club Baracchi, invites you to join us on Sunday 09 May 2010 to raise precious funds for the above charities by sponsored cycling.  There is a free cycle to be won

There are three basic routes of 7, 15 and 25 miles; they have been carefully planned to provide you with pleasure whilst you Cycle the miles for Life.  You have the option of riding 7, 15, 25, 40 or 50 miles; the choice is yours.  When you check in at the finishing line, we mark your support by presenting every pre booked rider who completes one basic route with a medal and certificate to confirm the distance cycled.  We are unable to guarantee a medal or a year bar for riders who register on the day.

You can enjoy the day with the comfort of knowing that there will be plenty of support.  Checkpoints spaced at regular intervals will provide refreshments and communication with base (except 7-mile route).  A vehicle will, if necessary, render assistance to stranded riders.  The Inner Wheel Club of Beccles will be selling light refreshments at Beccles Middle School in aid of Inner Wheel charities.

We anticipate enthusiastic support on this our 9th Beccles Cycle for Life.  All concerned will be putting the fun into fund raising.  As all Rotarians contribute their time free, all sponsorship collected goes directly to the nominated charities.  The 2009 event proved to be a great success and our thanks again to all those who supported and participated in it.  Some 372 riders were involved and we distributed £3,000 each to East Anglian Air Ambulance and our charity fund.  Our own fund is a charitable trust that has since July 2009 distributed £9440 to support international disaster relief aid, Waveney Sailability and many other local charities and good causes.  So please try to persuade your family and friends to join you.  Why not ride as a team with others from your work, company, club, pub, your village or neighbourhood to help make this event an even greater success.  We are continuing the category of team riders for business and other social groups again this year.

The start and finish point is Beccles Middle School and push off will be at 10 am.  Your advance booking donation for entry is £5 each, £12 for a family of 4 (a family of 4 includes one or two parents and up to 2 or 3 children under 18 years of age), a team donation is £4 each; there is a minimum donation of £16 for team entry.  Closing date for pre-booked entries is Saturday 01 May 2010.  If you enrol on the day, the entry donation will be £10 each and £20 for a family.  There will be no on the day enrolment for teams.  Fill in the entry form and return it as soon as possible with your entry donation and you will receive an entry pack with full information, i.e. maps, sponsor form, personalised paying in slip, rider number and details about checking in on the day.

We emphasise that this is not a race but a day for you and your friends and/or family to enjoy cycling on country roads at your own leisure.  Please be aware that the 15-mile route can be easily completed in about 2 hours.  It is also a day to raise thousands of pounds for charity.  In your entry pack will be an official sponsorship form.  Make those miles even more rewarding for yourself by getting lots of sponsorship to help the charities listed above.  Teams from businesses could seek matching sponsorship from their employer.

Individual riders banking sponsorship monies of at least £20 by Thursday 24 June 2010 will be entered in a free draw to win a cycle worth about £250.  Norfolk & Suffolk Financial Services are sponsoring the purchase of the bicycle from Life-Cycles of Lowestoft who are providing it at a discounted price.  The draw will take place at the Beccles Hospital Fete on Saturday 26 June 2010.   The lucky winner in 2009 was Mr Leonard Ingles of Beccles.
